“STREETMEWELL”

This collection of 193 images marks four years since I discovered photography as a form of well-being. Beginning in the late months of 2019 with a twin lens film camera, I decided to embrace the medium of film photography as more than just an esthetical hobby and fun activity, while still learning the skill, figuring it all out. A camera has soon become my trusty companion on walks and wanders across the Scottish capital, allowing the curiosity of a fairly silent, shy, and introverted person to open up to the world around, as well as a way to cope with a global pandemic situation.

Approaching interesting characters, situations and scenes in order to create something timeless has been such an important feeling, and Streetmewell represents the fact that stopping time and putting it in a frame, because we feel it’s worth it, is always valid. And not just for the sake of having a document of life and time, but also to enrich one’s own soul. Thanks to photography I have had the pleasure of learning more about myself. Thanks to the stories from the streets that I could observe, witness and take part in, more chambers of my soul unlocked.

This publication’s narrative takes us for a walk across three continents, from November 2019 to November 2023, following one simple rule – all the selected photographs have been made outdoors, in the streets and public spaces, with a few exceptions, which are open tents or windows.

Streetmewell is an expression for portraying strangers and moments, an homage and contribution to traditional street and documentary photography, focused on various forms of humanity
